From our resident scholar and social media strategist Robyn Ewart Vanpee, founder of Bywood Media

Are you feeling stuck in a rut with your social media strategy? Are you finding that your posts are no longer generating the engagement you used to see? No matter what anyone says, the algorithm is not working against you. It is time to shake things up and try some new content types!

From infographics to videos, there is something for everyone. So what are you waiting for? Start experimenting with what your audience wants to see from you.

Infographics
Infographics—graphic visual representations of data—are a great way to pack a lot of information into a visually appealing format. They are perfect for social media because they are easy to consume and share. If you want to get started with creating infographics, Canva is a great resource. There are thousands of templates out there, many for free, that you can use that are visually appealing to your audience.

Video
Adding some video is another great option for content that is sure to capture your audience's attention. You can create videos that are educational, entertaining or both! If you're not sure where to start, try creating a quick how-to video or a behind-the-scenes look at your business. These are perfect for reels, IGTV, IG Live and stories. What matters is that you show up.

Laughs
If you're looking for something a little more lighthearted, why not try incorporating some humor into your content? Funny memes and GIFs are always popular on social media, and they can be a great way to show your brand's personality. Just make sure that you're using humor that is appropriate for your audience and brand voice.

Interactivity
Instagram has all sorts of fun features—use them! From polls to questions, they are all very underused, in my opinion. Play games with your followers and get them engaged. Host events and challenges. Start your own Spotify playlist and ask for contributors. Think outside the box. Don’t think too much about what your competition is doing. Your people are looking for what you are doing. This is your time to shine.

No matter what type of content you choose to create, remember to keep your audience in mind. What do they want to see from you? What would they find valuable or entertaining? Keep these questions in mind as you brainstorm content ideas, and you're sure to come up with something that your audience will love.

Have you tried any of these content types before? What was your experience? Let me know over on Instagram.

Still, feeling stuck? Check out my guest episode with Lianne Kim on her Thinking Big Podcast for more social media inspiration! We talk about my social media trends predictions for 2021. They are still super relevant now, as I am all about focusing on foundations over flash and trends that have longevity.
