kid-friendly activities new year's eve Dec 21, 2023

Sometimes it's hard to figure out what to do with little ones to ring in the new year—and most of the time making it to midnight is hard enough for Mom and Dad, never mind the kiddos. Here we've found a few kid-friendly events (both daytime and nighttime) that will be fun for everyone. Happy New Year!

NYE Balloon Drop at Legoland

Staying up until midnight too late for your little ones? Try Legoland in Vaughan at a balloon drop at noon! The centre has rides, 4D cinema, a Duplo village, Ninjago City Adventure and so much more. You'll have a full day of fun—without the late-night tiredness.

Noon Year's Eve at the Science Centre

Ringing in the new year at noon just makes sense if you have young kids. From 10 am to 12 pm at the Science Centre, kids can enjoy hands-on science activities and demonstrations, followed by a freeze dance and balloon drop at noon to ring in the new year! You must preregister to participate—space is limited.

Oshawa Celebrates the New Year

Celebrate Oshawa's 100th anniversary from 6 pm to 9 pm! There's a stage with entertainment for the whole family (including magic, jumping castle, games and more!), as well as a magician, a zoo to you animal display, movies, a photo station, crafts, public swimming, skating, a sensory room and more. There's even a loot bag! Plus, ring in the new year at 9 pm. And the best part? It's all free!

Richmond Hill's First Night: A New Year's Eve Celebration

Come together for a family-friendly New Year's countdown in downtown Richmond Hill! There's skating on synthetic ice, live entertainment, tasty treats and more! To top it off, there's an early countdown starting at 8:45 pm, so no one has to stay out too long past their bedtimes.

Toronto New Year's Eve at Nathan Phillips Square

Ring in 2024 with the largest fireworks display in Canada at midnight, which you can see from anywhere with a view of the inner harbour. Good for family with older kids, the festivities start at 10 pm with DJs Sofia Fly and Cozmic Cat and the countdown will be hosted by drag performer Tynomi Banks. Plus, if you want to stay indoors this year, you can livestream the event!
