kid-friendly activities new year's eve Dec 19, 2024

Sometimes, it's hard to figure out what to do with little ones to ring in the new year—and most of the time, making it to midnight is hard enough for Mom and Dad, never mind the kiddos. Here we've found a few kid-friendly events (both daytime and nighttime) that will be fun for everyone. Happy New Year!

NYE Balloon Drop at Legoland

Staying up until midnight too late for your little ones? Try Legoland in Vaughan at a balloon drop at noon! The centre has rides, 4D cinema, a Duplo village, Ninjago City Adventure and so much more. You'll have a full day of fun—without the late-night tiredness.

New Year's Skating Parties Around Toronto

Ring in 2025 with family fun at Toronto's New Year's Skating Parties, hosted by the Mayor and City Council. Enjoy an afternoon of skating, music, free hot chocolate and fun activities at four locations across the city, including Nathan Philips Square. Whether you're downtown, in Etobicoke, North York, or Scarborough, there’s a rink near you to join in the festivities. With free skates available where possible, it’s a fantastic way to celebrate with your loved ones. Lace-up and glide into the new year!

Oshawa Celebrates the New Year

Celebrate Oshawa's 100th anniversary from 6 pm to 9 pm! There's a stage with entertainment for the whole family (including magic, jumping castle, games and more!), as well as a ventriloquist, a zoo-to-you animal display, movies, a photo station, crafts, public swimming, skating, a sensory room and more. Plus, ring in the new year at 9 pm. And the best part? It's all free!

Howl'n New Year's Eve at Bronte Creek

Wanting to spend some time outside this New Year's Even? Head to Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville for an evening of outdoor adventure. Kick off the night by learning about urban coyotes, take a short walk to see if you can hear their calls, then gather around the campfire for marshmallow roasting (available by donation) and an early countdown for kids. The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, giving your little ones the fun without the late-night fuss. Make sure you reserve your spot!

Toronto New Year's Eve Along the Waterfront

Ring in 2024 with the largest fireworks display in Canada at midnight, which you can see from anywhere with a view of the inner harbour. There are DJs, food trucks and live performances all along the waterfront, so you'll just have go explore for yourself. Plus, if you want to stay indoors this year, you can livestream the event!
