As a mom and content creator, I’ve been through the baby clothes game a couple of times now, and let me tell you—simplicity is the key! It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of baby clothing out there, but when it comes down to it, you only need a few basics to keep your little one comfy and stylish during those first three months. Here’s my no-fuss list of clothing essentials for your newborn:

  • 10 to 14 Sleepers (size 0-3 months)
Sleepers with zippers or snaps are a must for easy nighttime changes. I recommend having about 10 to 14 (meaning two a day) on hand to rotate through during the week. Choose soft, breathable fabrics like cotton to keep baby comfy.

  • 2 to 3 Swaddle Sleep Sacks
Swaddle sleep sacks are a game-changer! These are so much easier than trying to swaddle with a blanket, especially in the middle of the night. Get two or three of them to help the baby feel secure and sleep better. (Plus, then you have backups in case of blowouts or other yucky inevitable things.)

  • 6 to 10 Bodysuits (size 0-3 months)
Bodysuits are perfect for layering or wearing on their own. You’ll want about six to 10 of these to rotate through. Look for ones with snap closures for easy diaper changes.

  • 2 to 3 Pairs of Soft Mittens
Newborn mittens are great for preventing scratches on a baby’s face. I suggest having two to three pairs on hand, especially if your baby is a bit of a mover!

  • 1 to 2 Hats (depending on the season)
If your baby is born during cooler months, soft hats will keep their head warm. For warmer months, you can skip this or opt for a lightweight sun hat when you're outside.

  • 2 to 3 "leaving the house" outfits
This can be a matching set or just anything you adore. Truth be told, besides a few doctor's appointments, where are you actually going in the first 12 weeks?

By sticking to these basics, you'll have everything you need to keep your baby comfy and cozy without drowning in clothes. Keep it simple, and you’ll be good to go!
