Pregnancy—whether it's your first, second or fourth—comes with its own set of challenges and surprises. But after three other pregnancies, I can confidently say there are a few things I wish I'd known before I had my first. Now, with baby number four on the way, I've learned some game-changing tips, products and routines that have made the process a little easier (and way more manageable). So here are the things I’ve picked up along the way.

1. Magnesium Oxide & Psyllium Husk: Your Bowel’s Best Friends

Pregnancy can do some interesting things to your digestive system. One of the first lessons I learned is that "bowel struggles" are real. To help keep things moving, I wish I had started taking magnesium oxide and psyllium husk from day one. The combo of these two has been a lifesaver, especially when it comes to keeping things regular (pun intended!) and preventing those uncomfortable constipation days.

2. Magnesium Bisglycinate: Sleep, Sweet Sleep

As a busy mom, sleep is precious. And it’s even more elusive when you’re pregnant. But magnesium bisglycinate has seriously worked wonders for me. Two a night helps with sleep, relaxation and even keeping those poops regular (yep, magnesium really is magic). If you’re struggling with sleep, don’t underestimate how this supplement can be your best friend.

3. No More Night Waking: Try Sunflower Seeds or Greek Yogurt

If you’ve ever found yourself waking up in the middle of the night due to a blood sugar drop, I’ve got a hack for you! Try eating sunflower seeds or Greek yogurt as your last snack before bed. Both are rich in protein and help stabilize your blood sugar overnight. It’s the perfect way to prevent those pesky middle-of-the-night wake-ups that leave you groggy and restless.

4. Sinus Issues? Get Yourself a Navage Nasal Cleaner

Pregnancy can trigger all sorts of sinus congestion. If you've ever suffered from head colds or sinus issues, you know how miserable they can be. During my pregnancy, I discovered the Navage Nasal Cavity Cleaner—and let me tell you, it's a game changer. I had tried Neti pots before, but the Navage system works so much better, clearing out all that stubborn mucus quickly and without mess. It’s one of my top recommended tools for staying comfortable when you're battling sinus stuffiness.

5. Maternity Clothing: It’s Not All Glam

Here’s the hard truth: Maternity clothing is a pain. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the prices or the lack of stylish options, you’re not alone. I’ve found that investing in one good pair of maternity pants (shout out to After9 for making a pair I can actually wear!) and then sticking to Old Navy bargain sales or secondhand finds has been the best way to build my wardrobe without breaking the bank. Trust me—no one really cares if your maternity top came from a thrift store!

6. Move Your Body—Even When You’re Tired

One thing I didn’t realize with my first pregnancy was how much more energy I’d have when I just moved. Whether it's a simple walk, yoga or pregnancy-specific exercises, staying active has helped keep my energy up and my body feeling strong. I aim for movement two to three days a week, with exercises that are safe for the trimester. Believe me, your body will thank you.

7. 100 Squats a Day

Okay, I’m not suggesting you start doing 100 squats all at once (unless you're a total pro!). But I started doing 100 squats a day—broken up into five sets of 20. This has been revolutionary for keeping my legs strong and my pelvic floor ready for delivery. Plus, those squats really help with posture and general body strength, which is vital as your belly grows.

8. Hydration—But More Than Just Water

I’ve always known hydration is important, but it wasn’t until my third pregnancy that I learned to add a pinch of salt or even electrolyte powder to my water. Pregnant women need more fluids, but it's also essential to replace lost electrolytes to avoid cramps and fatigue. Don’t just sip water—make it count!

9. Coconut Oil: Belly, Thighs, and Everything In Between

Stretch marks—let’s talk about them. I know there’s no magic cure for them, but coconut oil has been my go-to for moisturizing and helping keep my skin supple. I rub it on my belly, thighs and even my feet to keep everything hydrated and elastic. It’s natural, smells great and leaves your skin feeling luxurious.

10. Get Ready for the Mental Load

While we focus a lot on physical changes, there’s a huge mental and emotional load that comes with pregnancy (especially with more kids at home). One thing I wish I had embraced earlier is that it’s okay to ask for help, delegate or just take a break. Don’t feel guilty about needing to rest mentally and emotionally. Your body—and your mind—deserve it.

11. Pregnancy Brain Is Real—So Embrace It

Forgetfulness, distractions and general pregnancy fog are things I didn’t fully grasp until I was in the thick of it. So if you’re feeling forgetful or out of it, don’t stress. Pregnancy brain is a thing. I’ve found that keeping lists on my phone or using sticky notes everywhere is my best defense. Also, don’t hesitate to let your partner or kids know if you’re just not functioning at 100%—we’ve all been there.

In conclusion, every pregnancy is a journey, and with each one, I’ve learned new tricks and hacks to make things a little easier. Whether you’re a first-time mom or a seasoned pro, these tips have helped me manage everything from sleep and digestion to mental well-being.

So, what would you add to the list? I’d love to hear what’s helped you along your pregnancy journey—let’s share our wisdom!
