9 things to do with kids in the GTA for the holidays
Dec 01, 2024
There are so many things around the city that you can do with kiddos to celebrate the season. From inexpensive (read: free!) walks or drives through scenic areas to ticketed events that they'll love, here are some fun adventures you can have as a family in the next couple of weeks.
Bloor-Yorkville Holiday Magic
Following its annual tradition, visitors of Bloor-Yorkville can shop, dine and take in the neighbourhood's art and cultural attractions surrounded by holidays lights and tree-lined streets. There's something to marvel at every turn.
Casa Loma's Christmas at the Castle
Guests will be surrounded by holiday magic at Casa Loma over the holiday season—including a 40-foot tree in the main hall and eight other trees by Canadian designers (see you if you can find them all!). Plus, kids can visit Santa, do some holiday crafts and so much more.
The Wizard of Oz: The Toto-ly Awesome Family Musical
Follow the yellow brick road to this hilarious, song-filled twist on the classic tale with Toronto flair! With dazzling costumes, laugh-out-loud parodies and a star-studded cast, this Ross Petty Panto reboot at the Winter Garden Theatre is a must-see holiday event for all ages.
The Distillery Winter Village
Talk a walk through the cobblestone streets of the Distillery District while you shop for that perfect gift (or, you know, for yourself). Kids will love the carollers and live entertainment (or a visit to the Illuminarium!) but don't forget to find Santa and his elves for a selfie.
Illumi Toronto
The largest holiday light show in the world, Illumi Toronto is a must-see experience (that is truly more magical than it looks in photos). Walk through 14 wonderful universes at nightfall with 20 million brilliant lights on a 600,000-square-foot site...that's the size of 10 football fields! You will be immersed in the magic of the holidays—and the whole family will love it.
Holiday Fair in the Square
Now in Mel Lastman Square, Holiday Fair in the Square transforms Toronto into a magical winter wonderland. There's an artisan marketplace, tasty food, Polar Point Bar for Mom and Dad, plus Santa's Village, and, new this year, a Holiday Maze!
Inglewood Drive "Kringlewood" Santas
Though an official “event,” the residents of Inglewood Drive in Toronto have taken it upon themselves to each decorate their front lawns with identical blow-up Santas. Kids will love taking a drive down this festive street and seeing how many big red guys they can count.
Legoland Holiday Bricktacular
Celebrate the holidays at Legoland between now and December 31st—enjoy seasonal LEGO activities, including a scavenger hunt, build-your-own ornaments, a gingerbread station and even a New Year Balloon drop at noon on New Year's Eve.
WinterFest at Canada's Wonderland
Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan turns into a winter wonderland for WinterFest—a captivating holiday adventure for the entire family. Enjoy ice-skating on Snow Flake Lake, a plethora of live shows, festive entertainment, thrilling rides, millions of dazzling lights, festive food, seasonal shopping and numerous Christmas trees, including two impressive 50-foot ones on International Street.
